G. B. Trudeau has been drawing his Pulitzer Prize-winning comic strip for more than forty years. In addition to cartooning, Trudeau has worked in theater, film, and television. He also has been a contributing columnist for the New York Times op-ed page and later an essayist for Time magazine. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Arts & Sciences. He lives in New York City with his wife, Jane Pauley. They have three grown children.

Always entertaining. Reading Doonesbury is like reading a history book, albeit far more amusing.Nice to read Doonesbury again, sort of I know Mr. Trudeau probably wants to retire but I would love to see Doonesbury run as a daily for another 20 years. I rarely get the chance to read the strips when published but I own every Doonesbury collection. This one is disappointing. Maybe's it's me but the humor seems lost, the characters distant and 1 dimensional. I'm no more a supporter of president combover then the next Doonesbury reader and I'll add this volume to my collection but unlike the many others I doubt I'll be rereading this one again and again and again.Missin' Garry Trudeau... I don't know about anyone else, but I was really beginning to miss the brilliance of Garry Trudeau and his "Doonesbury" comic strip, in the Age of Trump. His strip just disappeared and I couldn't find it til I saw the website a couple of months ago. Evidently, he's only publishing six-panal cartoons on Sundays. Well, now we have "#SAD! Doonesbury in the Time of Trump", which is a compilation of the strips from the past couple of years.The book actually begins during the 2016 elections. I get the feeling that Trudeau, much like many of the rest of us, didn't really think Donald Trump would actually win. And become president. And throw us into disorder and despair. But he did win and Trudeau's wit does take some of the sting off the bitterness many of us have been feeling.Donald Trump is not the subject of all the comic strips. Doonesbury and his family of characters make up most of the strips' casts. But most refer to things going on from 2016 to 2018. Garry Trudeau, as always, is witty but mostly punctures with a gentle edge. And that's what we need most.
