I would recommend this book hands-down! It is thanks in part to this that I passed my MBLEx! Plus it was the only one that I could find that was so up-to-date (January 2015). Considering the broad range of subject matter the MBLEx covers, I decided to study with this book in combination with practice tests on the website www.massage-exam.com, both of which I can recommend.

I began studying with www.massage-exam.com, but found that I was deficient in anatomy, physiology and kinesiology. This is probably because we did not have a good teacher at school! Her idea of teaching was to make us learn it ourselves, but I find an interactive and fun teaching style works better for me – with David’s book I think I honestly learned more in less than a week than I did by doing my reading homework and watching videos in school, partly because David has such an interactive teaching style.

Watching David’s video lectures (listed at the front of the book) made me want to be one of his students. He explains things in a straightforward way that makes you want to learn. It helped cement the information in my brain whilst following along with the book and making notes. I like that he sometimes gives you the layman’s term for certain words (e.g. pharynx is throat, thorax is chest …). Of course, I knew some of these, but having somebody tell you that again helps you remember it more easily. And I found his mnemonics at the back of the book useful too. I always try to think up little ways to remember things (uLna goes to the Little finger, Tibia is on Top, Biceps is next to the Breast; the difference between muscular dystrophy and atrophy – d stands for deterioration and a stands for away as in gone away completely …
